groovemobile.net offers full track mobile music download to over 25 million subscribers throughout Europe and Asia. They recently launched an innovative use of SMS marketing program callled Tell-A-Friend.
Using Tell-A-Friend, Groove Mobile customers can send friends an SMS text message, including individuals listed in their address book, to advise them to check out a favorite song selection. Upon receipt, the user accesses a link on their mobile handset which automatically brings them to a preview page where they can play the song suggestion received without charge. Following the preview, the users have the
option to immediately purchase the recommended song and download it directly onto their mobile handset.
Groove Mobile initially launched services with Telenor’s youth brand djuice in July of 2004, who was one of the first carriers in Europe to offer full track mobile music downloads. Groove Mobile has agreement in place with major music labels such as BMG, EMI, Universal Music, Sony Music etc.
Groove Mobile also has a music playing client for various cellular phones, including those from Nokia, Samsung etc. On their website, they posted a position for WinCE developer to port the player to WinCE platform.
