China-made 3G Mobile Phone Chips

Forbes has a story on China-made 3G Mobile Phone Chips. This could have huge implications on US chipmakers such as Qualcomm, TI etc, which I believe are fully aware of this steady trend – China is no longer just a cheap labor provider. It is becoming a formidable technology innovator in the global marketplace.
This news didn’t get the wider coverage like the Lenovo-IBM deal. But who can you blame? With Oracle – Peoplesoft making the news everywhere … How does this affect mobile software? Well, I bet that the mobile blackberry app that PSFT announced a little while back would be re-evaluated, given that Oracle already has a multi-channel wireless application server product.
Finally, Microsoft jumped into the desktop search frenzy …
