Motorola Linux Phone E895
July 1st, 2005
Motorola using Linux in their phones is old news, they started doing that in 2003. But this new phone is different. A middle range flip-phone, the Moto E895 could change people’s perception of Linux based mobile phones and help spread mobile Java adoption, if it delivers on quality, performance and cost.
Using a version of embedded Linux from MontaVista for low level momory and power management, the Motorola E895 uses Java for user facing features.
The E895 can play MP3 files and can accommodate up to 512MB of removable TransFlash memory. Its 1.3-mexapixel digital camera can be used for photos or video. And it’s equipped with Bluetooth networking technology for synchronizing data and using wireless earpieces. Pricing is not available yet.
