Microsoft Finally Gaining in Mobile Phone Market

There are finally some really positive news announement for Microsoft after many years of cracking the mobile phone market.

Firstly, Microsoft has enlisted Flextronics (an outsource OEM manufacturer) to offer a reference design based on its Windows Mobile platform. This could have huge impact on bringing MS Smartphones to the mass market by reducing the manufacturing cost.

Secondly, Microsoft is teaming up with Nokia on integrating Exchange Activesync with Nokia’s series 60 devices. To Microsoft, this is another way to maintain its Exchange Server’s lead on enterprise PIM market. To Nokia, it is way for them to attract enterprise buyers for its Activesync enabled mobile phones.
