PhoneBites Funding and QPass Acquisition

Developer of innovative voice app PhoneBites got $3 milllion VC money. QPass beefs up mobile content delivery with acquisition of an Austria company.

The venture capital arm of Siemens said it will join Cardinal Venture Capital and Garage Technology Ventures in investing $3 million in wireless technology company PhoneBites. PhoneBites is developing a mobile-phone application that will allow users to interject sounds into a voice conversation. The company has already developed a headset with similar capabilities as a proof of concept of its efforts.

Qpass, whose software powers the marketplace for digital media and services, today announced that it has acquired ucp morgen, headquartered in Vienna, Austria. ucp morgen is a leading provider of content delivery software for network operators, portals and content providers. This acquisition accelerates the Qpass global market expansion strategy and broadens the company’s product line to encompass the management of the entire digital supply chain.
