QUALCOMM Opens BREW Developer Lab in India
December 15th, 2004
This is one of the nine BREW developer labs around the world. The lab provides paid access to the latest Qualcomm cell phones and development/test tools. http://brew.qualcomm.com/brew/en/developer/resources/ds/dev_lab.html
Looks like the development platforms on the mobile phones are shaping to look like a three-horse race, the three bring Qualcomm’s BREW, Symbian, and J2ME. Early data indicates that J2ME has the largest shipping volume, followed by Symbian and BREW. Of course, there is also Microsoft’s pocketpc mobile phone edition, which is gaining some momentum.
A key to winning the developers over to a certain platform is the tools available. It seems neither Nokia nor Qualcomm is offering competitive and sticking solutions. On the other hand, Microsoft has the tool and experience to attract developers. Don’t forget: microsoft has the largest pool of developers in the world.
